Netgear Wireless Network Problem

It is a difficult task troubleshooting wireless network problems. And if you don't have complete knowledge of the common wireless hardware problems and configuration problems that it is much harder then it needs to be. So hopefully this article is going to help your with your netgear wireless network problem, or any other type of router that you are using.

Let's take a look at some problems that generally have a quick fix.

This may sound silly to you, especially if you have some sort of knowledge, but it's something that is commonly overlooked, make sure that your modem is functioning properly. There should be 4 lights on the front of your modem, are they all on. If they are not call your Internet service provider and speak with them, they may be able to help you instantly.

You can always try this trusty method to fix your netgear wireless network problem. Shutdown your computer, unplug your modem and then unplug the router. Keep them all off for about 30 seconds. Now you will need to follow this very carefully. You need to turn on your modem first and let it completely boot, so all of the lights need to go on then turn on your modem. Once all of these lights are on then you can boot up your computer. What this does is help assign a new IP address and get the communication you desire with the Internet.

It never hurts to adjust the antenna on your router. Sometimes there may be something that is blocking the signal giving you a weak connection and moving the antenna's around can fix it. Or you can move the entire router to a different location entirely.

Well if you are still having problems then you can try this method that is a bit more technical. Go to the Start Button, and click on Run. Then type in IPCONFIG/RELEASE, and then IPCONFIG/RENEW. This will refresh your IP address and get you back online, hopefully.

If this does not solve your netgear wireless network problem then my only remaining suggestion is to contact netgear themselves and explain the problems that you are having and what you did to try to resolve it. They should be able to quickly walk you through it. You can always call them first so you don't have to waste your time and efforts.
