Troubleshooting Wireless NetworksAlright, first I want to tell you that the frustrations that you are feeling right now are very common. Troubleshooting wireless networks has got to be one of the biggest cause of broken routers, because they are eventually thrown against the wall and shattered into many pieces. So I want you to take a few deep breaths and then continue to read. Hopefully I will be able to help you through this. Okay are your ready. Let's look at some troubleshooting for wireless networks. The first thing you should do is up to date your wireless adapters driver. You can check what driver you are currently using by going into My Computer, and then click Properties. Then you will click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button. Expand the Network Adapters section, right-click the icon for your wireless network adapter card, and then click Properties. Click the Driver tab and you will then see the Driver Version number. You can get this from the manufactures website. Make sure that you are downloading the correct driver for the model that you have. Once you install the drivers you will need to restart your computer, it will usually tell you this, but you have to do it in order for the changes to take place. If that doesn't work there are some other troubleshooting techniques for your wireless networks, and it's still not throwing it against the wall. You should also upgrade your adapter utilities which you can also find on the manufacturers website. But before you install the newer version you are going to have to uninstall the current version of your adapter's utilities. You can do this through the control panel, and then you will see the Add or Remove Programs icon. Since you are already on the manufacturers website you might as well upgrade your hardware's firmware, firmware is the software. This will save you many more frustrations. If these steps do not correct the situation, then you should try to delete the network profiles, and then reconfigure all of your wireless network profiles. This time manually type in your SSID, WPA, WPA2 and your passphrase. The main causes of wireless network problems are because of the physical installation which consist of the router, connections of wires and the adapter, so you should insure that the wires are properly connected, and that the adapter is properly inserted in the correct slots.
