WIFI Network Troubleshooting

So you are experiencing wifi network trouble, I've been there I totally understand your pain. I want to begin with some wifi network troubleshooting that may just solve your problems.

If your computers wont' go on the internet then it is probably because your devices in your home are not communicating with eachother. So you need to check some of the key network components to fix the problem.

So first I want you to check that all of your devices are working well together. To do this you need to check what version of Microsoft Windows you are using.

You may need to change the wifi channel number this is a very common problem. Many people don't even know that they have to do this. Wifi transmits over several different channels and changing the default channel number may free you from the interference that you are having because your neighbor is using the same channel.

Upgrade your wifi router's firmware, sometimes the version firmware or software that is installed needs to be upgraded. Yes, I know it doesn't make sense how it works and then all of a sudden it stops working normally, but it does. So you need to upgrade to the newer version, but make sure that you uninstall the current version on your computer before installing the new version of the software.

If you have a connection but it's not very strong there is probably something blocking the signal of the wifi router. Check to see how far your wifi router is from your computer and see what is in between the two. Is there any large obstructions like a wall? You can often solve this weak signal issue by relocating your wifi router so you can work around the wall, or if this is not possible you can install an additional device to work around the problem.

There are many sites online that will help with your wifi network troubleshooting. Sometimes it's an easy fix and other times its not so easy. There are many things to consider when you are trying to fix your network and there are times that things get overlooked because of the frustration that surrounds the whole situation. You may want to contact your wifi router manufacturer if you are unable to get up and online. Or you can contact your internet service provider and see if they can help. Expect to be on the phone for a while, but between the two they should be able to help.
